Harold Reynolds and Dan Plesac are new additions to the virtual booth, but in all honesty, the end product is worse than the out-of-date audio that it replaced. The most disappointing aspect of the game is the commentary. I still like the variety of camera angles offered during replays, cutscenes, and the highlight vault is outstanding, but there's nothing new on this front. The other broadcast options are simply more stripped down, which doesn't make the MLB Network option any better. Aside from a scoreboard bug and a couple of statistical overlays with a few different fonts, it's not all that impacting. The new MLB Network presentation is nice, but it really feels underwhelming and underutilized. All things considered, the customization and polished mechanics have produced the finest gameplay I've ever experienced with a baseball video game, and arguably the best I've played in any sports title. There's still a crazy amount of camera views to play from and dynamic difficulty concept. There are always new additions like ShowTime in Road to the Show, the omnipresent PCI indicator and other staples. The Show still allows you to play the game the way you want to and have always enjoyed. Sony's wide-open and inclusive approach to controls only augments the product's best quality. It's really hard to put into words how exceptional the game plays. Thankfully, this is something that could be patched easily, and I expect it will be.

I saw about six or seven ground-rule doubles, which felt a little excessive. If there's one criticism I have of the gameplay, it's the amount of bounce on the baseball on the warning tracks. I undersold the new bat-and-ball physics, but once you start to play the game you see how much it impacts the game. CPU-controlled outfielders take realistic – though at times imperfect – routes to the baseball. No more do you have to worry about infielders taking ridiculous amounts of time to deliver a throw to first base after fielding a ground ball.
Mlb the show 17 serial key series#
Most of those little things that used to drive diehard fans of the series crazy have been corrected. Gameplay has always been the best part of The Show's package and nothing has changed. I'm confident this will be patched soon after release, but it was there during my evaluation. That's not horrible, but it was still memorable. In the 23 games I played, I saw it about five times. It looks pretty choppy, and at times it allows you to get away with going around on an attempted check swing. One that sticks out in my mind particularly is a new check-swing animation. However, there's a few that look awkward. In the field and at the plate, there are several instances when you can see these new additions. New animations were also a topic of conversation leading up to release. Whether it's oddly rendered hair or cartoonish facial features, the other guys still look a little strange. Much was made about the developmental team's efforts to make the generic players blend in with the photo-realistic guys, but unfortunately, that mission wasn't accomplished. © 2021 Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC.On that note, the CPU-generated players still look odd.
